Way back in 1990 a girl called Pauline lent me a video tape as she thought I might enjoy it. I watched this tape and it was the WWE, or rather back then WWF Survivor Series PPV. This PPV is noteworthy for two very specific things. The infamous introduction of the Gobbledegooker and the debut of The Undertaker. I actually remember watching the whole thing from start to finish a few times over the course of the weekend.
I liked the theatrics, the stories, the action, all of it, apart from that jiving turkey which even younger me thought was daft. Pauline was right, I did enjoy this tape.
Over the years I have had a mixed relationship with the world of wrestling, finding my interest come and go, but, it’s always been there as a fall back and now with the WWE Network it is possible for me to go back and catch up on the bits I missed here and there.
To this day myself and a few friends always try and out guess who is going to win what at which PPV and frequently argue about what we think is good and what we don’t.
